Tracy K. Smith, a professor of English and of African and African American studies at Harvard, is a Pulitzer Prize–winning poet, memoirist, editor, translator, and librettist who served as the 22nd poet laureate of the United States from 2017 to 2019. At Radcliffe, Smith will complete an examination of the ways conscience and consciousness manifest in the work of the poet Lucille Clifton.
