I will develop a series of artworks in the mediums of sculpture, mixed media, and video that combines research into women’s health, civic and museum architecture, and energy systems to examine notions of resiliency in humans and structures. Research partners will assist in building 4D drawings simulations, and plans for pneumatic kinetic sculptures and mixed media artworks. Research partners with experience in robotics, 3D modeling, coding, and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation are encouraged to apply. This is also a great opportunity for research partners skilled in archival research and/or video editing, as I look to gain information for my project from the Schlesinger, Fine Arts and Frances Loeb Libraries. In this regard, surveys, narratives, and images pertaining to the overlaps in occupational safety/ women’s health advocacy, within the context of modern-contemporary museum, studio/lab workspaces, and natural environments will be used in tangent with photography and video aspects for this project. Research partners will benefit by gaining skills in cross-disciplinary problem solving/research while also learning about the ways in which a studio-based artist applies modes of experimentation and collaboration to creating large scale artworks.
