Junior Faculty Research Colloquia

The Radcliffe Junior Faculty Research Colloquium program seeks to promote the career development of tenure-track faculty across the University by gathering experts within and beyond the Harvard community to offer intensive reflection and feedback in a neutral, collegial setting.

HRI will host a one-day, by-invitation colloquium for the discussion of each faculty convener’s in-progress manuscripts (or equivalent research products). Conveners must be Harvard junior ladder faculty (appointed at the rank of assistant or associate professor) at the time of application and when the colloquium is held.

These colloquia provide opportunities for the dedicated discussion of unpublished work in a venue outside departmental, divisional, and school boundaries. Logistics for each colloquium will be supported by Radcliffe staff to allow the faculty convener to concentrate on the scholarly aspects of the private research event.

The Institute will award up to two grants per year to faculty applicants from a rotating list of eligible home divisions or schools of the University. We welcome applications centered in any thematic area and methodological approach.

Applications are currently being accepted. To apply, please submit an application through our online portal. Applications are due Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11:59 PM ET.

  • Grantees will receive funding and staff resources to support one-day, invitation-only colloquia, to be held between September 2, 2024, and February 28, 2025
  • Colloquia will be hosted on the Harvard Radcliffe Institute campus
  • Each colloquium can accommodate up to 12 total participants, including the faculty convener, subject to budgetary limitations
  • Conveners must be Harvard tenure-track faculty members appointed at the rank of assistant or associate professor at the time of application and through the date of the colloquium
  • For academic year 2024–2025, the convener must have a Harvard faculty appointment in the Division of Arts and Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences or in the Graduate School of Design
