This is an interdisciplinary seminar exploring innovative approaches to writing histories of poetry, focused on the Russian tradition and on recent theories of poetry's contact with other arts and domains of knowledge, as well as of the communities from which poetry originates and which it helps imagine. This gathering will bring together contributors to the “Intersections and Networks” sections of the Oxford Handbook of Russian Poetry, forthcoming in 2023, with the Handbook editors, and with leading and emerging scholars in inter-arts criticism and digital humanities. We will alternate theoretical discussions centered on key texts in several relevant fields with workshops on pre-circulated drafts of chapters intended for the Handbook.
