Rethinking Health and the Humanities During and After COVID-19

June 2022

Corinna Treitel, Harvard Radcliffe Institute
Sari Altschuler, Northeastern University

This Radcliffe Exploratory Seminar is inspired by the observation that the field of Health Humanities has changed quite dramatically in the last decade or so. Interest among scholars housed in humanities disciplines has surged, leading to a newly vibrant field of research and the founding of numerous undergraduate programs. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic has stimulated renewed interest in Health Humanities among medical professionals. Clearly, a moment of stocktaking and forward thinking is warranted. By drawing together 12-15 leading scholars who have been actively involved in founding and/or leading Health Humanities programs and seminars over the past several years, this seminar will be an opportunity to synthesize new developments in the field as well as to sketch pathways for future development.
